The Sisley Routes

Moret-sur-Loing route
A first route, created by the association Les Amis d’Alfred Sisley, is marked out in the town of Moret-sur-Loing by plaques made of enamelled lava stone at locations where the artist sat down at his easel. A multilingual guide to the route is available in the shop (€6) at the Moret Seine & Loing Tourist Office and at Point Sisley..
A route covering18 km,
following in the footsteps of the artist, through his paintings done in Moret-sur-Loing, Veneux-Les Sablons, Thomery and Saint-Mammès is also available at the Tourist Office. .
Saint-Mammès route
The town has two viewpoint indicators related to Sisley, located on the banks of the Seine, next to Place des Bollards. They are the starting point for an interpretation route of his paintings, which offers visitors a chance to walk to the places where Alfred Sisley painted. The banks of the Seine, known as ” Promenade Sisley ”, are decorated with plaques made of enamelled lava stone, which retrace the sketches he kept each time he sold a painting, which are now known as his ” dessins de raison ”. Many local painters still stop on the banks to paint, on the same spots as the master impressionist.
